Here's a gorgeous, atmospheric, perhaps almost cinematic work by a Canadian composer little known outside Canada, and perhaps not even very well known there anymore. It was fifty years ago that Canada celebrated its centennial, and among other noteworthy events such as Expo 67, Canadian RCA issued a series of LPs featuring works by contemporary Canadian composers. Just a few short years later in the early 1970s these discs were already out of print and remaindered. I was fortunate to find a bunch of them in a five-and-dime store selling for next to nothing so of course I snapped them up and they served as my introduction to Canadian music. The work uploaded here was my favorite of the batch and I enjoy it to this day, so I thought I would share it here hoping someone else will also enjoy the discovery.

Lovely music by a lyrical, late-Romantic, English-born Canadian composer better known for his organ music and many choral anthems.
